"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world". Nelson Mandela
The educational program at The Preschool is founded upon research-based practices from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The curriculum features activities and environments that are age and developmentally appropriate for every individual child. Using the SC Early Learning Standards for Infants and Toddlers and the SC Early Learning Standards for Threes, Fours, and Fives, the program is theme-based with plans that include objectives covering all developmental domains: social-emotional, intellectual, physical, and language. Children are screened at the beginning of each school year using Ages & Stages and monitored throughout the year using developmental checklists to insure each child’s developmental needs are met.
The Preschool at The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer provides many extra activities as a regular part of the curriculum including: dance, karate, field trips, and visits from libraries, museums or other relevant programs. As a ministry of The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, the center participates in some religious activities to support Christian learning but the center is multi-denominational and is respectful of all beliefs. We ask staff to encourage children to say prayers before eating and to attend devotions in the church with the Pastor when they are developmentally ready.
